Class Descriptions: Nature Journaling

Come join us as we explore the joy of keeping a Nature Journal. It’s a relaxing way to use your curiosity, wonder, and attention to explore the world around you. We will go over ways to record and diagram the things we see around us so that you can go out and begin journaling. Nature journaling can take place in a park, the forest, at a school playground, in a community garden, or even in our own backyards! No artistic or scientific background is needed, you will develop skills along the way to become a naturalist and field sketch-artist.

In this 1-1/2 hour class, you will learn how to practice “intentional curiosity”, a term that naturalist, author, and nature journaling educator, John Muir Law uses. We will learn how to ask questions, dig deeper, and focus our minds both intently and intentionally, as we begin a page in our journals. There will be time to add some watercolor to your page, if you wish, with some basic instruction.

Materials are provided. There is also the option to purchase your supplies to take home if you wish.

Recommended for ages: 8+, children must be accompanied by an adult
